Nuweiba is situated about 70km south of Taba on the Gulf of Aqaba.
Nuweiba a back-packer’s paradise, is one of the big oases in South Sinai, when travelling there, if you like beautiful scenery, make sure to take the road between Nuweiba and Taba. Nuweiba can be divided into three sections: the port of Nuweiba is the point of embarkation for ships traveling to Jordan. Nuweiba City is full of bazaars and tourist shops, Tarabin, the party area is known for its lively oriental atmosphere.
Make sure to visit the Muzeina Bedouin fishing village to the south and Tarabin Bedouin village to the north. Not to be missed is the Colored Canyon, situated between St. Catherine Monastery and the town of Nuweiba, viewing the strange formation of bright multi-colored stones resembling a painting, in total silence as the canyon blocks out all sounds, makes it an eerie experience.
In Nuweiba Tarabin, in the ruins of a Turkish fort is a well that still supplies the Bedouins with fresh water. Between Dahab and Nuweiba, lies Ras Abu Galum Protectorate, the habitat of 165 plant species in addition to a large number of mammals and reptiles. The Protectorate has an enormous environmental significance and is a fascinating place to visit.
