Taba is a work in progress as Egypt has big plans to turn it into an Egyptian Riviera. Meanwhile enjoy it for what it is; devoid of mass-tourism and peacefully beautiful with its golden beaches backed by dramatic mountains.

Taba’s main attraction is Pharaoh’s Island. The site is simply breathtaking, surrounded by turquoise water and topped by a castle built by the Crusaders and taken over by sultan Salah El Din. The castle was completely renovated in 1170. When visiting the Island bring your diving gear, the coral reefs surrounding it are very popular with divers and snorkelers.

Situated in the southwest of Taba, is a protected area of 3590 square km.

The region’s natural springs are surrounded by plantation gardens. The area is the habitat of 25 kinds of mammals, 50 kinds of rare birds and 24 kinds of reptiles.

Antiquities dating back 5000 years and reminiscent of the Bedouin heritage can be found in the area.
