The beach at Sidi Abdel Rahman found 23 km west of El Alamein, is the stuff that dreams are made of fine, white sugary sand beaches sill pristine and free from too many tourists.
Ten kilometers into the desert, World War II enthusiasts can visit a grave yard of tanks left over from the last battle of the German African corpse panzer division against the allied troops.
Sidi Abdel Rahman is the perfect place for the traveler to take a close look at the Bedouin life. In a small village 3km from the beach, members of five main tribes subdivided into clans, herd their flocks of goats and sheep. Tents are gone though, the government is attempting to settle nomads into concrete homes without changing too much of their culture.
