Marina is a gated community resort, located on the North Coast between Alexandria and El Alamein. Out of the many tourist villages among the North Coast, Marina is considered one of the most exclusive and caters mostly to the more wealthy Egyptians.

The concept of Marina was originated by Abdullah Abdel Aziz; head of the urban planning committee of the Scientific Research Academy. His goal was to create architecture that would stand up to the beauty of the scenery, and bring back a building esthetic that has been sadly missing since the post-revolution days(1952); when the main concern was to build housing for the poor. This in a way signifies the start of the luxury building boom in Egypt.

Marina is turning into a year round destination and is beginning to create strong interest among foreigner investors; considering what it has to offer, it is no wonder.

The village is beautifully laid out with narrow streets lined with villas and chalets; greenery roundabouts and the architecture of the dwellings have been created to give an esthetically visual flow. Commercial, medical and religious services can be found in the village’s center.

The atmosphere here is very youth oriented and special beaches cater to young people’s lifestyles.

Chiquita and Yashmak beaches; geared to the exclusive use of women, all staff from security guards, all the way to administration is female. Women can lie on the beach in their bikinis, have a tan, a manicure or pedicure or go swimming without having to worry about unwanted male attention. To make the area even more cozy and private, the compound is surrounded by high walls.

Nearby the Porto Marina hotel and mall complex, built in a style reminiscent of the city of Venice, you will find a little bit of heaven, featuring boutiques, restaurants, a cinema, a swimming pool, a golf course and venues for all kinds of water sports and desert excursions.

If all that was not enough, a little way out of Marina lays Geziret Mariout, once a prosperous urban center in Pharaonic, Greek and Roman times, providing a multitude of cultural aspects to the area.
