Egyptian Visa
Visa is obtained at the major airports or ports of entry in Egypt. The Visa can also be obtained from the Egyptian Embassies and Consulates around the World (see below). In the airport right before standing in line for the immigration officer, you’ll find the Visa office, where you buy the Visa. It costs around $15, check the price below.
The Visa is a stamp like a mail or postage stamp that you stick in any empty page on your passport. Then stand in the immigration line to get your passport stamped by the immigration officer.
There are two types of Egyptian Visa:
1. Tourist Visa: valid for a period not exceeding three months and granted on either single or multiple entry basis.
2. Entry Visa: is required for any foreigner arriving in Egypt for purposes other tha tourism, e.g. business, study, personal, etc. The possession of a valid Entry Visa is needed to complete the residence procedure in Egypt.
Who needs a Visa?
Afghanistan, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Chechnya, Croatia, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Lebanon, Macao, Macedonia, Moldavia, Montenegro, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, The Philippines, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Sri-Lanka, Tadzhikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and All African countries except south Africa.
Citizens of the above countries may apply for a visa through their nearest Egyptian Consulate or Embassy pre-arrival.
Visa Requirements:
- Valid passport with at least 6 months left, before expiry.
- One passport-sized photograph
- A completed application form

Exemptions from Visa Fees:
Egyptian visa fees do not apply to the following:
- Those in possession of a residence permit, in Egypt, are not required to obtain an entry Visa if they leave the country and return to it within the validity of their residence permit, or within six months, which ever period is less.
- Holders of diplomatic passports.
- Officials of international organizations and specialized agencies and state delegates to conferences.
- Arab League officials. Citizens of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Yemen, Gepoti, Syria, Oman, Qatar, and Libya.
- Non-national spouses of Egyptian nationals.
- Non-national members of the clergy, prominent scientists, journalists and members of official cultural, educational and sports delegations.
- Non-national students studying in Egyptian institutions.
- Non-diplomatic personnel of diplomatic and consular missions affected in Egypt.
- Parents, siblings and adult children of members of the diplomatic and consular corps affected in Egypt.
- Nationals of Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, Russia and the United States are partially exempt from Egyptian visa fees and will, therefore, pay a reduced fee.
Special Services
Foreigners arriving in Egypt on board of ships are granted a permission to visit the port of arrival for 24 hours and catch their ship at the same port. They can also be granted a permission to enter the country for a visit not exceeding a period of 3 days before catching their ship at the port of arrival or at any other port.
Obtaining the Visa
Arabic Countries
Citizens exempted from getting a visa to Egypt:
Citizens of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Yemen, Gepoti, Syria, Oman, Qatar, and Libya.
Citizens of the following countries are required to be in possession of a pre-arrival visa to Egypt and they CANNOT get a visa upon their arrival:
Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Somalia, Sudan, Mauritania.
Europe Countries
Citizens exempted from getting a visa to Egypt:
Malta
Citizens of the following countries can get a visa from our consulates abroad or upon their arrival to Egypt from the port:
European citizens, except for Ukraine, Albania and Bosnia Herzegovina
Citizens of the following countries are required to be in possession of a pre-arrival visa to Egypt and they CANNOT get a visa upon their arrival from the port:
Non European citizens
Asian Countires
Citizens of the following countries can get a visa from our consulates abroad or upon their arrival to Egypt from the port:
Norht Korea, South Korea, Republic of China, Japan, Singapore, Maldives, Nepal, Brunei
Citizens of the following countries are required to be in possession of a pre-arrival visa to Egypt and they CANNOT get a visa upon their arrival from the port:
The rest of Asian citizens
USA and Canada
USA and Canadian citizens can get a visa from our consulates abroad or upon their arrival to Egypt.
South American Countries
South American citizens can get a visa from our consulates abroad or upon their arrival to Egypt except those from Palestinian origin and Belies citizens from Lebanese origin.
Australia and New Zealand
Australian and New Zealand citizens can get a visa from our consulates abroad or upon their arrival to Egypt.
African Countries
All African Citizens are required to be in possession of a pre-arrival visa to Egypt and they CANNOT get a visa upon their arrival.
Citizens of some countries need to have a clearance from Egyptian authorities before granting them tourist or entry visa which takes not less than 3 weeks, so if you are a citizen of those countries which CANNOT get a visa upon their arrival, please contact the consulate to know about your case.
Any Egyptian citizen holding foreign passport will be granted a courtesy visa after declaring proof for Egyptian nationality like Egyptian (passport, personal or family identification card or birth certificate), also the foreign wife to Egyptian husband will be granted a courtesy visa after declaring a proof for their marriage.
